Spinal Injuries Association Logo

The Spinal Injuries Association is dedicated to enhancing the lives of people with a spinal cord injury throughout Queensland. Formed in 1960, the not-for-profit organisation provides a diverse range of quality services and support to its members, ranging from personal care, peer support and employment assistance to health advice, support groups, training, the loan of equipment, an information service and advocacy. The Association has offices in Brisbane and Townsville with representation in most major towns in the state.

On average, 90 people each year sustain a spinal cord injury in Queensland and the Association is dedicated to reducing this statistic with its injury prevention program (the Spinal Education Awareness Team) that has spoken to more than 1.12 million children in the past 20 years. The team of volunteers, who all have paraplegia or quadriplegia, share information and insight into life with a spinal cord injury and in 2007, spoke to more than 60,000 students at primary and secondary schools around Queensland.

The Spinal Injuries Association uses Qudos System 3 software for the operation of its quality management system.

Suncare Community Services Inc. was established in Maroochydore on the Sunshine Coast in 1970, and now services an area from North Brisbane to Central Queensland. It provides services to the community through its network of nine Commonwealth Respite & Carelink Centres, including four Carebus 'mobile information units', Direct Respite Services, Meals on Wheels, Maroochydore Day Respite Centre and the Community Alternative Transport Service. Through Suncares' commitment to community development, it has supported organizations such as Alzheimer's Association (SC), Sixty and Better and Volunteering Sunshine Coast.

Suncare consists of a growing number of dedicated and greatly valued staff and volunteers working within its diverse range of community services, and has been able to respond successfully to the exceptional population growth within the region. Along with ISO 9001 certification from IHCA for its quality management system, Suncare has also attained current accreditation with the following agencies:

Disability Services Queensland (DSQ)

Youth & Family Services (Logan)

YFS or Youth and Family Service (Logan City) Inc is a community based, not-for-profit organisation, providing responsive and creative social welfare services to people in Logan City and surrounding areas. Operating from two main sites and a number of outreach locations.

YFS works with everyone in Logan City including children and young people, families, adult men and women, young mothers and young men, older people, people with a disability, people from diverse cultures and backgrounds.

YFS works with people to build their livelihoods and sustain their emotional, social, physical and spiritual wellbeing.

YFS operates a quality management system that is certified to AS/ NZS ISO 9001 by DNV (Det Norsk Veritas). Quality accreditations are also maintained to DSQ, HACC and various other standards. The YFS quality management system is based on the use of Qudos System 3 software. Qudos has also provided Internal auditor training courses for YFS personnel.

Christine Allison, YFS Service Manager, states: "The Qudos System has had a two-fold benefit for YFS; it allows us to monitor and maintain our quality system with a minimum of fuss and has been educative with staff gaining an improved understanding of the theory and practice of quality management".

Townsville Port Authority

The Port of Townsville is Queensland's third largest commercial Port, providing all of North Queensland with a world class gateway for commerce and trade. The entire Port community employs more than 7,000 local workers, and approximately ten million tonnes of cargo pass over the wharves each year.

Qudos System 3 has provided the Authority with a tool to manage its diverse range of management systems. These systems include quality assurance, occupational health and safety, environment, security, and risk.

Nigel Birch, Quality Assurance Officer at the Port of Townsville had this to say: "The benefits of using Qudos System 3 are very significant to our organisation. It has proven to be user friendly and extremely easy to maintain.

"Previously we had a very manual system for recording data, which involved many unco-ordinated databases. Now all our data is located in one database which enables management and operational employees to get a holistic picture of compliance and risk activities. The benefit over cost of Qudos System 3 is enormous, I believe it will pay for itself in a few months," he said.

Jaws Buckets & Attachments is Australia's leading specialised manufacturer of attachments for the Mining, Construction, Earthmoving, Quarrying and Materials Handling Industries. Founded in 1970, Jaws today employs over 140 highly skilled personnel in over 10,000 m2 of undercover factory featuring the most modern fabrication technology available.

Quality management issues
Jaws has ISO 9001:2000 certification by SGS, and the company believes that its reputation for providing a quality product is enhanced with this quality endorsement. Previously, Policies, Procedures and Work Instructions were housed on an internal network, without the most convenient access for sales, service, and regional staff. This was also coupled with an electronic improvement register that was not as effective as desired. Mindful of the need to improve its systems, Jaws reviewed several software packages and determined that the application that best suited its Quality, Safety and Environmental Management System needs was Qudos System 3.

Quality Manager and Health / Safety Co-ordinator Steven Beecheno states; "The Qudos system meets our current and future electronic quality system goals, by way of an Internet connectable software package for our sales and service teams providing them up to date current information while out in the field, and an Intranet environment for our production site. The system provides further support by offering increased security, flexibility, accessibility, and a corrective and preventative actions register. This system we believe will supply all the characteristics needed to assist Jaws Buckets & Attachments in maintaining our current certification, and improving our overall management system".

Queensland Health

Queensland Health is the public health service provider for the state of Queensland, Australia. Through a network of 38 Health Service Districts and the Mater Hospitals, Queensland Health delivers a range of integrated services including hospital inpatient, outpatient and emergency services, community and mental health services, aged care services and public health and health promotion programs.

For several years, Qudos has supplied Qudos System 3 compliance management software and Internal auditor training services to various units within Queensland Health.

IHCA Australia

IHCA is one of Australia's leading providers of quality assessment and review services to the human services sector. This not-for-profit, national organisation offers services such as Standards review and evaluation, organisational development, consultancy and skills-based training. IHCAC (a subsidiary company under the IHCA Group) offers certification services.

IHCA has a quality management system certified against ISO 9001:2000, assisted by a multi-user installation of Qudos software.

Drew Australia

Drew Australia is a leader in the field of industrial water treatment. They are specialists in boiler water treatment, cooling water treatment, waste water treatment, mining anti-scalants and process additives.

Drew is a wholly owned subsidiary of Ashland Inc., a Fortune 500 company with diversified operations in chemicals, transportation, road building and wholesale retail marketing.

They installed a multi-user version of Qudos System 2 to assist their manufacturing facility at Chester Hill in achieving certification to ISO 9001:2000.

Joe Masina (Production Planner / Quality Management Representative) states... "After installation it has quickly become a user-friendly tool in growing our Quality Management System to better meet the company's strategic objectives.
